Biocide dosing system

 

To guarantee an efficient biofouling control from a dosing point onwards it is crucial to expose all the intake and water system surfaces to the dosed biocide products. H2O designs and engineers biocide dosing systems to achieve an optimal dispersion and effectiveness from dosing system onwards.

To verify the adequacy of the dispersion a computer model is used, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). With this software program, a model of the mixing process of injected biocide from the dosing point onwards is generated. Different stages are modelled: steady-state, transient, laminar and turbulent flows. The model calculates the biocide concentrations based on mass flows of the injected biocide and inlet water.

The model calculates the biocide concentrations based on mass flows of the injected biocide and inlet water. The output of the CFD modeling results produces a series of images which provide insight of the biocide concentrations in different cross sections in several parts of the water system. This provides a clear insight as to whether chlorine reaches the locations where it needs to be effective after dosing, e.g. the walls of the intake area.

In addition to the design of dosing systems H2O fabricates and delivers the dosing systems using the appropriate material based on the biocide specifications.
