In-No-Plastic Meeting in Hengelo Addresses Innovative Solutions
In-No-Plastic (Innovative approaches towards prevention, removal, and reuse of marine plastic litter) is a three-year, EU-funded project that aims to develop and demonstrate nano-, micro-, and macro-plastic clean-up technologies in aquatic ecosystems. The final project event will be held in Hengelo, focusing on the critical themes of marine litter removal and the promotion of circular economy principles.
The event, scheduled for March 20-21, 2024, will gather all project partners and leading experts to deliberate on innovative strategies and technological advancements to address the challenges posed by plastic pollution in marine environments.
The agenda for Day 1 includes a series of technical sessions, with working groups divided into thematic areas corresponding to the project’s different work packages (WP).
Day 2 of the event, scheduled for March 21, will feature an open industrial event, welcoming a broader audience to discuss removal technologies, demonstrations, exploitation strategies, and circular economy approaches. Key highlights of the agenda include presentations on innovative removal technologies such as the In-No-Plastic Archimedean Drum Screw and the SEEKer Robot, along with insights from partners on the chemical industry perspective and the micro and nanoplastics water analysis challenges.
The latter part of Day 2 will focus on assessments of clean-up and recycling approaches, circularity evaluations, and case studies highlighting successful initiatives in various regions. Notable presentations include circularity initiatives on the Krk Eco-Island in Croatia and perspectives from the waste-to-energy industry. The event will conclude with closing remarks and networking opportunities.
The In-No-Plastic meeting in Hengelo promises to be an important event in the ongoing efforts to address marine litter and advance the circular economy agenda. With diverse expertise and stakeholders coming together, the stage is set for meaningful dialogue and impactful outcomes in the fight against plastic pollution.
